TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jessica Kumala Wongso is finally named as suspect in the death of Wayan Mirna Salihin, 27, who died after drinking cyanide-laced coffee on Jan. 6.
Jessica was arrested today at Neo Hotel in Mangga Dua Square, North Jakarta at 7:45 am.
Jessica did not say anything to reporters when she got off from the car and was taken by police investigators to the room of the Jakarta Police general crimes.
"We’ve named her as suspect since Friday (29/1) at 11 pm," said Chief of the Jakarta Police general crimes Comr. Sr. Krishna Murti on Saturday (30/1).
Krishna added that the police tried to find Jessica in her house in Sunter, North Jakarta since Friday evening but she was not at home.
"Her house was dark, so we tried to find her," Krishna said.
Jessica was previously a key witness in Mirna’s death.
Based on the simulation of the incident, Mirna, Jessica, and Hani, the other friend, were at Olivier Café at Grand Indonesia in Jakarta on Jan. 6.
Jessica came first and ordered a cocktail and a cold Vietnam coffee. Minutes after, Mirna and Hani came to the café and Mirna drank the coffee. After drinking, she suffered from convulsions and foamed at the mouth. She died on her way to hospital.
