Gayle King had a swell time this past weekend with her adult son and daughter as they attended a concert headlined by Beyoncé last Sunday in Johannesburg.
The “CBS: This Morning” co-anchor showed off her children on Instagram, and the trio looked genuinely radiant. King, 63, wore a sleeveless multi-colored dress and styled her short hair in waves and curls. Her daughter, Kirby Bumpus, rocked an off-the-shoulder print jumpsuit, while her son, William Bumpus Jr. stayed casual in a black T-shirt and light-colored pants.
“She made it!!!” King gushed. “Favorite daughter has arrived #mandela100 we are glad to see her!! @oprah & @beyonce & #jay-z coming up!!”
GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL
The renowned journalist, who is also best friends with media mogul Oprah Winfrey, was at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100, a music concert that was organized to “inspire a new generation to follow in the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s footsteps and end extreme poverty by 2030.”
King earlier referred to the event in the December 2018 issue of “O, The Oprah Magazine,” for which she serves as Editor-At-Large.

She was writing about her favorite holiday traditions and “Good music for a good cause” made it to the list. It was even better because she could share it with her best friend and children.
INFIDELITY & DIVORCE
Back in 2012, King confessed that she’s happiest when spending time with her son and daughter, and from the pictures of their Global Citizen Festival outing, she wasn’t lying.
King and her children’s father, William Bumpus, called it quits in 1993 after 11 years of marriage, and the TV personality has been a single mother since then. King would later reveal that her marriage packed up because of her ex-husband’s infidelity.
In a 2016 Vanity Fair interview, she was asked: “Which living person do you most despise?” King’s reply was an eye-opener:
“‘Despise’ is a strong word. I'm not a huge fan of the woman I caught naked with my now ex-husband on June 24, 1990, at 9:16 pm - but I don't remember the details.”
Her confession prompted a public apology from her ex, a former Connecticut Assistant Attorney General.
“I have been haunted with this life-altering choice. Though I have dealt with this privately, I publicly apologize for the major transgression that dramatically changed all of our lives,” Bumpus wrote, in a statement sent to Page Six.
THE GOOD LIFE
Winfrey, 64, once said that she knew her friend’s marriage would not last because their 1982 wedding “didn’t feel joyful.”
Fortunately, King has moved on from her marriage troubles a long time ago and now enjoys spending time with her kids, working, and going on luxury vacations with her friend.
